Let the Pigskins Fly!

I should begin this post by saying I had to ask my husband, the football fanatic in our house, if a pigskin was in fact a nickname for a football. This is your first clue how into football I am.

A friend and her husband are very, very into college football. Me…not so much. I went to a college where it was a big deal for our football team to play a school outside of the state. My friend and her husband both went to schools where football was so big it was aired on national channels! She emailed me and wanted an order of cookies for her husband to kick off the college football weekend. She used the words “Gators” and “VT”. Second clue how football I am…I had to google what these meant 😉 For those of you who don’t know let me save you the 30 second Google search

VT = Virginia Tech

Gators = mascot for the University of Florida

Now time to air one of my weaknesses…burgundy. No, not the wine…I’m pretty good at wine 😉 No, the color burgundy. I have the worst time mixing icing to get a burgundy color. It kills me! I don’t know what it is, but I continually struggle with it. I figured I’d show my progress and see if anyone has any tips they can share 🙂

Start with burgundy, add red, add brown, add purple, add more red…hmmmmmm

Well, after adding more red and purple to my last picture, I finally ended up with a color that I felt was acceptable 😉 Hope she enjoys them and both their teams do well this season!

All Things Girlie – Part II

I was very excited this cookie order came in. It was so much fun creating birthday favors that were so girlie! Eesha’s Mommy noted that her daughter was a fabulous little 5 year old who was really into Barbies and Princesses and would love little cookie favors for her birthday party. I was given design control and found an adorable little princess image, which turned into my inspiration for her cookies. I hope she likes her little black haired beautiful princess cookies!

Happy 5th Birthday Eesha! May all your princess dreams come true this year ❤

Up Up and Forever Happiness

Weddings always make me smile. Scratch that…everything related to weddings, including the chaos and drama (as long as I’m not involved and can merely watch!), makes me smile. I love the excitement and the giddiness. But most of all I love the planning and seeing how all the beautiful wedding accessories and decisions come together.

I was enlisted to make cookie favors for an upcoming wedding shower and asked to match the colors and theme of the invitation which was a beautiful hot air balloon. Loved the theme and the romantic tag wording “Love is in the Air”  🙂 Excited to use my hot air balloon cookie cutter too 🙂

Hope the bride and groom enjoy these cookies made especially for their special celebration!

All Things Girlie – Part I

It’s no surprise that most little girls like pink and purple. But what it is they like in pink and purple can cover a wide range of things. For instance, my daughter would request her banana purple if I could do that magic trick every morning 😉

While I have two little girls, my daughters are still young and seem to be more interested in climbing walls and playing in the dirt than in girly activities. So this week was a treat and I got to dabble in the “girly” with my cookies 🙂

2 birthdays, 3 little girls, 2 of them twins, and lots and lots of pink and purple! I of course had to make an extra cookie of each design for my daughter to see how she reacted to the girly designs. She loved them!!! Hopefully the birthday girls all like their little princesses and fairies as much as my daughter did 🙂

Happy 1st Birthday Ellie and Natalie! Ellie, after devouring your pixie fairy, you should really thank your Mom for entering your picture in the Dastardly Do bed head contest so you could win these cookies for your party! Your Mom definitely knows a good picture opportunity when she sees one 😉
