Ga Ga Over Onesies!

Goo Goo Gaa Gaa…the past two weeks were full of adorable baby onesies! One order for little girl onesies to coordinate with a tutu themed 1st birthday and one order for little boy onesies matching a baby shower invitation. Now that my daughter is over 1 and technically no longer considered a baby (in my books they’ll always be my babies though!!) it was fun decorating these cookies and reminiscing about their baby months 🙂 Awww Yep…I’m a softie for babies 😉 Hope both parties enjoy their sweet little baby onesies!

Precious Baptism

It seems like I’ve been getting a lot of requests for baptism and first communion favors. Must be in the air!

My most recent cookie challenge was for a little girl’s baptism. Her Mom sent along some photos of baby’s room and a fabric swatch of baby’s bedding. It was the most beautiful dusty rose I’ve ever seen! I tried hard to replicate and hope she likes the colors. Mom wanted vanilla and strawberry, which was cute since the strawberry cookie dough was pink like the bedding! Baby’s room is decorated in cherubs…who wouldn’t want to wake up among those sweet angels 🙂

I envisioned wispy wings of feathers and used my paint brush to move the icing around for the effect. The hair has some curl to it which I love! When the icing had dried for about 5 minutes I went back with a toothpick and drew in the hair strands, which created curls at the ends. I know baby has light brown hair (peach fuzz!) but pictured curls too 🙂  I wanted big eyes on the cherubs like those from Precious Moments, but with each attempt the eyes got googlier and googlier. So I had to make an executive decision and went with sleepy eyes. I guess I should practice eyes!

I hope Mom and guests enjoy these little ones. It was sad to have such angelic cookies fly away 😉

Baby Shower Favors

One of my very good friends is having a baby! Cannot wait for March when I get to meet the little guy. Her baby shower was yesterday and it was such a fun time. I was lucky enough to score a day of “Daddy Day Care” since my hubby had returned from Europe the day before…so I traded in some drooling, poopy diapers and unnecessary whining for a few hours of girl talk, yummy food, tasty wine and lots of adorable baby clothes 🙂 Great times!

I volunteered to make the shower favors and had a blast doing them. I bought these cardboard boxes and added the ribbon and label.

Inside were little bags of candy. I’m being serious here…I think it should be a law that you have to have candy at a baby shower 😉 On top I made a bunch of onesie cookies and keeping with the theme decorated them using the wet-on-wet technique with blue and green icing.

Hopefully the girls enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed making them!
