One of my dearest friends is adopting an adorable little boy and this weekend was her adoption shower. Her sister did such a great job organizing everything and the safari theme couldn’t have been more perfect!! I offered to make cookie favors for all the guests…to be honest, there’s really nothing I wouldn’t have done to help, but this is an area I’m definitely comfortable with
Decided to do three different safari animals based on the cartoon animals on the invites.
Lion

Zebra

and Giraffe

I cannot wait for my friend to bring home her son. Such an exciting year for them!!! She and her hubby are going to make amazing parents

…how to get to Sesame Street!! Love that show. Grew up watching that show. It brings me joy knowing the show is still around and is still wildly popular with the little ones
Out of all the cookies I’ve made this year, the sesame street characters are my top sellers. Yeah! I love making cookies for people but more than that, I love bringing smiles to little kids faces
So sweet!
Thought I’d share my Sesame Street journey..

Everyone does things differently. Even if it looks like it was done the same way as someone else, I’m guessing the way their mind worked to get to the end result was different. I find myself spacier and spacier the older I get, not to mention how many more things I need to keep track of on a daily basis. Where did that sippy of milk go from two days ago?? Did I wash that dress I want her to wear to the birthday party? Oh lord, there better be enough eggs for this… and the list goes on and on. So I find myself relying heavily upon lists. Lists are my savior. Hallelujah for lists!
Side tangent complete and now back to how everyone does things differently. I figured I’d show the stages I go through for a somewhat complex cookie order. I’d LOVE to hear how others would have done it or tips for saving time. Believe me…I could use either more time or more efficiency so bring on the suggestions!!
First step is to draft out the design

Once any design wrinkles are ironed out and the concept is complete…

I move on to outlining which colors are needed for each design. It’s now that I also list what areas I’m planning on doing first and second. The “A” column indicates the first layer I’ll do. Once that’s complete (usually over night) I move on to the colors/items in column “B”. I’ve never had to do more than 3 layers but I’m still waiting for that challenge to present itself

After I list what colors are for what areas, I write down a complete list of colors I need and begin coloring my icing

Thank god for lists right!! I guess I could mix up all my “layer A” colors first and the next night mix up the “layer B” colors, but I’d rather do it all in one shot. Once the icing is all mixed together and thinned out to the right consistency, I begin piping and flooding.

And continue with the second layers until the cookies begin to take shape

Until the cookie is complete
Love how these turned out. What a fabulously creative idea…kudos Robin!!

I love flip flops. Flip flops scream summer…and I LOVE the warm summer months! So I was super excited when an order came in for some flops.
If you haven’t heard of Photo Card Boutique, you HAVE to go check the site out! I get all kinds of color inspiration from them. For these flops I was excited to use this particular color crush palette.
I have to say…these cookies made me head out and buy me some real flops! Luckily…Old Navy was having their $1 sale this past Saturday!

It’s been way too long since I’ve posted anything. I have been swamped with orders and haven’t had time to actually sit down and type out how my orders were created. The few moments I have had away from my piping bags, I’ve spent trying to get my not even 2 year old to sleep in her new toddler bed. Word to the wise…DO NOT encourage them to climb
I just finished an order and seriously had so much fun creating them! It’s always fun when you are given creative control. I always sit down and think “The world is your oyster! Go for it!!” hehe Well, not really but I do get giddy thinking about what I can do.
The order was for a combined birthday party for a 2 year old boy and his 4 year old sister. The theme was Carnival/Circus. Grandpa wanted to give his grandkids something special so he requested clowns for his grandson and carousel horses for his granddaughter…pink and purple horses to be exact. I hope Princess likes her beautiful horses and Prince loves his funny clown faces
I know I do!
