Final Assignment

We had our final session for our Wilton Cake Decorating Basics class. Oh yeah…I even got a certificate! Need to find the perfect frame 😉

Anyway, brought my cake to class and it was all about ribbon roses. We made ribbon roses after ribbon roses. Ok, well I made that many so I could pile them on my cake. We also learned writing but I wasn’t brave enough to ruin my cake with writing so I opted outta that one. Brought all my tiny pink rosettes that I made yesterday and lined the bottom border.

I have to say, I was finally proud of my cake! Oh yeah! My husband even liked it and said I’d come a long way since my fish cake (which he thought was a turnip…seriously??).

It definitely is fun! And I love that if I make a mess of things, it still tastes great! 😉 I’ve been decorating on and off since I was 12ish? (by on and off I mean about 3 or 4 cakes a year or so) Just as a hobby, learning from my mum & recently the internet. It must have been a blast doing the Wilton course! I really wish we had them here! And your results are really lovely! Thanks so much for sharing the pics! Can’t wait to see what else you will be doing! 🙂

I doubt that! I don’t know where you live but most craft stores (Michael’s, AC Moore, etc) offer Wilton’s cake decorating classes. I took mine at Michael’s and they usually run a 50% off classes promotion. I bet you’d shine compared to the others 🙂

They definitely have them at my Michael’s here in town. I just need to do it… maybe I will find a buddy to take it with me or something 🙂

That sounds way more fun than doing them alone! I am hoping to take class #3 (gum paste and fondant) with a new friend of mine who makes spectacular cakes…I’m thinking I may have to pay her to do my “homework” hehe Maybe you should ask for an early birthday/christmas present and take the plunge 😉
